Having a lot of ‘experienced’ friends around sure do come in handy. They helped me get acquainted with gowns they’ve tried on, and gowns they’ve worn themselves. For a while I thought things got a little more complicated there, but they did help me narrow down my options from a few dozens to a handful – - – sort of.

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. I myself have heard a lot of horror stories from many brides who ordered their gowns online. They either got the wrong color, wrong size, wrong dress and oftentimes, very late than promised. But with the many times I’ve helped my friends pick their wedding dress, I’ve learned it wasn’t really that bad as some say. For someone I worked with, ordering online something as important as a wedding dress did get her nervous at some point. The Duchess Satin off-shoulder dress with full lace upper, accentuated with delicate hand beadwork all the way to the sleeves looks gorgeous with the full satin skirt design. The V-back did bring justice to the dress as well. I kinda like how the dress have built-in bra pad coz it keeps the shape really well. Besides, for $199 from its old $375 pricetag, what more could you complain?

My mom and sister got married about the same time. Well, for my mom, they were renewing their wedding vows (how romantic!). I guess they both proved that purchasing wedding gowns online is a brilliant idea. I saw their gowns and they’re just about the same stuff you get from bridal stores – - – but for a fraction of the cost. My sis got herself a sweetheart neckline white wedding dress in full skirt design with crinoline and train.

The craftsmanship was incredible and the amazing beadwork was more than what she paid for. For a 68% slash from the old price, the dress is purr-fect! Mom wore a heavily laced long-sleeved white bridal gown with intricate beading and lovely V-back design.

The cathedral train duchess satin skirt looked a bit much for me when she lifted it up from the box but everything changed when she wore the dress. It was hands down gorgeous! But honestly, it’s still not the type of dress I would wear for my wedding. I used to love long-sleeved wedding gowns when I was a bit younger. But that sort of changed over the years and it had moved down a bit on my priority list. I still think it’s lovely though. My mom thinks it’s absolutely fantastic – - – says it’s the wedding dress she never got. And from the original $599, she only paid $199 – - – that’s incredible savings there!

When I was a bit on the limbo as to my wedding wear pick, I thought about taking inspiration from celebrity weddings. I looked around celeb magazines and websites to give me a good idea. I found one that kinda looked like what Kate Walsh wore in her CA wedding with Alex Young

but ugh! The gown sent shivers to my spine. The lace with pearls and crystal details were great but the dress style isn’t anything I would want to wear, and for $606? No way. Embroidered and beaded with pearls, this laced bodice and hem long-sleeved wedding gown with chapel length train would seem a more suitable choice.

For almost about the same price ($627.90 to be exact), the ala-Jessica Simpson gown I saw around Amazon’s pages is a hands-down winner. Made from satin and tulle appliquéd with solid beaded lace, this wedding gown is perfect for that celebrity-feel wedding that’s sure to get a lot of compliments. Here’s where to check it out:

Not exactly a Carolyn Bessette wedding gown, but quite close, the sensational ivory body knit slip from Amazon is perfect for an afternoon wedding.

Though the one worn in the Bessette-Kennedy nuptials had a shawl, this one comes with an embroidered lace cover with pearl accents. I would give this dress 5 stars for its romantic look. Though it’s not a hundred percent my style, I would still wear the gown.

But truly, celebrity-style or not, the straps and neckline are the most important things I pay attention to in choosing my gown. I may be a bit conservative, but I would never want to get myself a gown that would choke me, or something like that. I am thinking about anything between halter, off-shoulders, spaghetti straps (or at least sleeveless) or off-shoulders. The white satin haltered gown will always be on top of my list.

The beaded lace bodice sat nicely on the ball skirt as I tried it on, and along with the chapel length train, is an undeniably sophisticated overall arrive. Not bad for $564.

My options for off-shouldered wedding gowns are quite overwhelming. The white satin off-shoulder gown by Sean Collection, has a pretty heavy laced bodice.

But I find its tulle skirt kinda odd, and honestly, the whole dress lacks personality. For whatever reason a friend recommended me this other gown, I find it hard to appreciate the whole of it except the nice beadwork on the lace shoulders. She wore the same exact gown to her wedding

and I was there, it looked wonderful on her though. The detachable train sounds good to me, but I think she can bring this dress more justice than I do. On the contrary, this one’s one of the closest to my heart, among my favourite, in fact.

Somewhat closest to my personality, this white off-shoulder gown with eyelet laced bodice is most perfect for long, dark-haired brides like me while the way it bares off my shoulder is just enough to show off my tan skin, yet not all of it. The crinoline underskirt translates simplicity and elegance incorporated into a single dress. Also from Sean Collection, this particular ivory off-shoulder lace wedding dress has excellent beadwork and lacework.

Though it could pass up for the mix of modern and classic look, I don’t think it’s the kind of dress that’s going to leave an impression. Since all four have the same $199 pricetag, I’d rather opt for the third one if I am to go for off-shoulders on my wedding day.

You have no idea how many gowns I have seen and tried on these past months. I’ve spent an outrageous number of hours trying to find my wedding dress – - – still it seems never enough. Between sleeveless, strapless and spaghetti straps, I normally wouldn’t opt for sleeveless when it comes to wedding dress. I would rather go for halter, or strapless instead. But this one is the most unique I ever came across with. This ivory sleeveless bridal gown has a beaded lace front bodice design and an open back. I’ve seen a lot of celebrity wedding photos and was inspired by the pretty strapless gowns they wear, more like an evening dress matched with veils or shawls. I was glad when I found one at Amazon, and it has a matching shawl too which you have to buy separately.

But no matter how I try to bring justice to the dress (or vise-versa), it just wouldn’t pass up for a pretty bride look (how much more for a celebrity style). The laces were in the right place, but I guess if you have it properly fitted, it would change the gown’s whole appeal. I never bothered though as I got taken by the strapless white Duchess Satin wedding gown I’ve seen.

It has minimal lace appliqués on its skirt, accentuating its chapel length train. The rest of the dress is kept simple, but since satin is elegant in itself, the gown, to me, is definitely fabulous. An elegant gown for really good price – - – it’s on top of my list!

My bro’s girlfriend is one of the pickiest people I know. She was one of those who almost went crazy looking for the one unique dress to wear and had always wanted to walk down the aisle in a designer dress. There were hundreds of gowns to choose from but she picked this strapless ivory wedding gown with organza and embroidered lace overlay.

Spending over a thousand for a gown is outrageous, but for a designer gown with a $458 pricetag, and an incredibly beautiful two piece design, the dress is simply perfect!

Made from satin, the bodice is appliquéd with beaded lace while the organza overlay made the matching skirt even more dreamy. The breezy silhouette it creates looked great on me, and I’m close to paying for it, but I’m still thinking about the Luxe Lace wedding dress at Amazon.

I have this thing for empire waists, and I guess my body shape calls for it too. The scalloped lace V-neckline is so easy to be comfortable with. The nylon material drapes my skin gently and I looked great with its below the knee length design. The ¾ lace sleeves made me look the most modest and pretty bride. In case you wanna check it out, it looks very much like on the picture. And I assure you, the detail work is great!

My final verdict? As I wanted to incorporate everything I wanted from all those dresses I checked out, I finally found something that has it all – - – a venetian rose lace two piece wedding set.

It is exactly everything I wanted from a wedding dress. It could be a bit different from traditional wedding gowns, but the western style wedding dress kept the tone I wanted to set for my wedding. I absolutely love the boned corset style lace camisole paired with handkerchief hem skirt (which I find among the most unique qualities of the dress) – - – this is indeed my dream wedding wear. It flattered my figure naturally and gave me a bustier look. I spent quite a lot of time in front of the mirror and I can’t get over how beautiful I looked in it. It’s lovely, well-designed, yet inexpensive ($139.99). When the dress came, I knew that was what I wanted. And unlike other gowns I’ve shipped back, this is the one I will definitely keep and wear on my special day. And I did! My wedding was full of compliments and it made my big day more perfect than ever. I am definitely happy with my option. Choosing a wedding gown obviously is a decision that involves finances. If you’re a bride on a budget, this gown will make your dream come true. Yet, our personal style and fashion sense would always have something to do with the gown we end up wearing on our big day.
